“Come Share at the 100th Lake County Fair!”

A message from The Lake County Agricultural Society / Fair Board

Two Harbors Minnesota

Hello Everyone!

We are now ending this June on the 28, the first 4-H horse show is at the fair grounds . This year, with all the un-avoidable expenses - we are beginning the new fair year with $10,000 less in our coiffers than as usual. We really need financial help more than ever this year. We start off with a celebration of 100th fair in 2008 for Lake County. How is the fair prep going for 2008's fair? It's good - everyone had fun and loved the Lumberjack shows & the Old West Society with their guns fights, whip demos, etc. in 2007 - so we are having them both come back. The Lumberjack Kid Camps will be through out the fair, but especially on Kid's day on Thursday. Also, back are the live Pony rides too for the kids. In 2007, The Old West Society Outlaws even "robbed" a real train coming into Two Harbors Depot one day & the Saloon girls went to Blackwood's one night!! Will they do this again? We hope so - maybe the Lake County News-Chronicle will even consider it local news this time for their paper and cover it with a story & pictures.

There's still a lot to do! OH! YES! There is a Carnival this year!! The K&M Amusements from Phillips, Wisconsin is coming to our fair! It's their first time in MN and they are coming just for us - So Lake County, let's show them how much you like Carnivals and come ride the rides & play the games!! It was all of you out there that said if there is no carnival - you would not come to the fair - well, we are holding you to that statement - WE HAVE A CARNIVAL!!! There will be a wrist band special on Kid's Day Thursday, starting at 1 pm. Carnival tickets will be on sale in the local Credit unions in July 2008. Buy early at a cheaper rate than during the fair.

We are using the dates of August 14-17 for the 100th fair. Theme is ready - it will be our 100th fair and it means a century of fun to celebrate. Coming back will be our Ranch Rodeo from last year along with Hay Bale Tossing, Frying Pan Tossing, Blindfolded LawnMower Races and more! Do you enjoy Jeeps? “Cause a local group is planning to have a vehicle Obstacle Riding Course possibly again and following that is the Cowboy Confidence Challenge. This is a challenge to see how good you and your horse work together—Is your horse BOMB proof? Do you bake pies—the annual pie contest is for you. There's always Open Class entries and 4-H....We will be featuring an Arcade Game area, if all goes well and try to get that 3 or 4 day Bingo back too. We're doing the best we can! "So, Lake County come Celebrate, the 100th Fair in 2008! The 2008 premium book will be on the website by late May 2008.
